MPNFL MEN'S DIV ONE: Sorrento's miserable day against ladder leaders Dromana
Sorrento endured one of their most miserable days in recent memory last Saturday when they took on ladder leaders Dromana. The Tigers have lost just twice this season, and Sorrento have floated around the middle of the ladder. After a scrappy first quarter, Dromana put their foot down and dominated. The second quarter was a massacre, with Dromana kicking 7 goals to Sorrento's 1. The Sharks were never in the hunt, and the final score read Dromana 17.13.115 to Sorrento 6.8.44, a massive 71-point defeat for the home side.
Sorrento coach Rob Forster was left shaking his head after the match, stating "We just didn't show up today. Dromana were far too good for us and we couldn't match their intensity. It's back to the drawing board for us this week as we look to bounce back against Pines next Saturday."
The Sharks will be hoping to put this performance behind them quickly, as they now sit in 7th position on the ladder, with a tough run home ahead of them. Dromana, on the other hand, continue to set the pace at the top of the table, cementing their position as the team to beat this season.
Bonbeach also suffer heavy defeat
It was also a day to forget for the Bonbeach Sharks, who were on the receiving end of a 117-point hammering at the hands of Frankston YCW. The Seagulls were simply too good, kicking 24 goals to Bonbeach's 3 in a comprehensive victory.
Bonbeach coach Darren Naylor was devastated with the performance, saying "We were completely outclassed today. Frankston YCW are a quality side and they showed that from the opening bounce. We need to regroup quickly and get ready for a tough game against Mornington next week."
The Sharks now sit in 10th position on the ladder with just 3 wins from their 13 games so far. They will need to find some form quickly if they are to avoid being cut adrift in the bottom half of the table.

For Sorrento, the task doesn't get any easier, as they now face a resurgent Pines side who have been in good form of late. Bonbeach, meanwhile, will be hoping to bounce back against a Mornington team that has also struggled for consistency this season.
