The Cost of European Defense

A study by the think tank Bruegel reveals the significant financial burden Europe would face if it were to defend itself without US assistance. The study estimates an annual expenditure of 250 billion euros and the need for an additional 300,000 soldiers. Furthermore, to adequately face the challenge posed by Russia, Europe would require substantial military hardware.

"To face the challenge posed by Russia Europe would additionally require 1,400 tanks, 2,000 tracked combat vehicles, 700 cannons, and a stockpile of one million artillery shells." - Bruegel Study
