Bach Archive Receives a Generous Gift from New York

In other exciting news, the Bach Archive in Leipzig has received a significant donation from New York. The gift includes 130 original manuscripts, comprising dozens of letters and handwritten musical scores. These documents offer invaluable insights into the life and work of Bach’s four composing sons.

“This donation is a treasure trove for music scholars,” says Dr. Elisabeth Schmidt, a researcher at the archive. “The letters and manuscripts provide a unique glimpse into the Bach family's creative process and personal lives.”
