Spectaculare Festival Kicks Off

Electronic music enthusiasts, get ready! The 12th edition of the multi-genre Spectaculare festival is set to electrify Prague's SaSaZu club. Icelandic duo Kiasmos, renowned for their mesmerizing electronic soundscapes, will launch the festival, which runs until March 30. Expect a diverse program encompassing electronic, ambient, chamber jazz, and contemporary music. Audiovisual projects by Max Cooper will add another layer of artistic depth to the experience.

FRANTA: A Powerful Retrospective at Prague Castle

For art lovers, the Riding Arena of Prague Castle is hosting a powerful exhibition of the work of František Mertl, known as Franta. This retrospective showcases the lifelong artistic journey of the 94-year-old painter, who has lived in southern France since 1958. Franta's figurative paintings often depict the harsh realities of war and the suffering of refugees. His work resonates deeply, offering a poignant commentary on the human condition. He has exhibited alongside giants like Marc Chagall and Pablo Picasso, solidifying his place as a major figure in contemporary art. The exhibition runs until mid-June.

Lukáš Příkazký: Evil, Mockery, and the Stage

Over at the Dejvické Theatre, actor Lukáš Příkazký is captivating audiences with his portrayal of Richard III. He’s also known for his roles in the series Volha and the film Vacation with Brouček. Příkazký's talent shines through in each performance, proving his versatility as an actor. He even draws parallels between his role as Richard III and a certain contemporary world leader, noting that "Richard is like a Putin who ended badly."

Pragueshorts Celebrates Short Film

The 19th edition of Pragueshorts, the international short film festival, recently concluded, awarding the prize for best film to Spanish director Àlex Lory's "Masterpiece." The film explores themes of class differences and societal prejudices, offering a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
