Tatiara Artists Shine in Eclectic Exhibition

Diverse Artworks Showcase the Talents of Local Artists

It was a successful start to the joint exhibition hosted by the Keith Art Group and Tatiara Palette Painters, with about 20 works sold on the first day. The exhibition, showcasing a wide range of artworks from members of both groups, is currently on display at the Walkway Gallery in Keith.

Keith Art Group president Robynne Jaeschke expressed her excitement about the opportunity for local artists to showcase their work to a wider audience. "I think it's a wonderful chance for both art groups to display the work that they do, the time that they put into their pieces of work and their soul's so to speak," she said.

The exhibition is indeed a reflection of the diverse talents within the two art groups, with a wide array of mediums on display, including watercolor, lino prints, acrylics, oils, and pencil drawings. "There's some beautiful baskets that someone from the Palette Painters has done," Jaeschke added, highlighting the eclectic nature of the exhibition.

Walkway Gallery director Naomi Fallon was thrilled with the positive feedback the exhibition received at the opening on August 4. "It went really well, we had a nice crowd," she said. "Feedback has been really wonderful because it is such a different show."

"If you can't find anything you like in this exhibition then you are really picky."

Fallon emphasized the importance of showcasing local artists at the Walkway Gallery, stating that the joint exhibition between the two art groups has been a successful collaboration over the past few years. "They hadn't really exhibited together before we started doing these joint shows and they work really well in getting people through the door, but also getting the art groups to work together."

Prior to the exhibition, the groups hosted joint lessons, and Fallon set a challenge for the artists to create miniature artworks based on famous works. "The challenge I set this year is that we take on a master and we paint in miniature style, so there is a whole wall of 10 by 10 centimetre canvases of all these famous works reproduced," she explained.

Jaeschke acknowledged that the miniature artworks were not easy to create, despite their small size. "They are quite complicated and hard to see sometimes," she said.

The exhibition will be on display until September 28, and both Jaeschke and Fallon encourage everyone to visit and experience the diverse range of artworks. "It will be going for quite a while and there is such a wide range that there will be something there for everybody," Jaeschke said.

Fallon agreed, stating that the local shows are always popular and that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. "They get better every year and the feedback we have had is really great, people love seeing our local artist and a local name on the wall," she said.

Visitors to the exhibition may even have the opportunity to witness a Palette Painter at work, completing an unfinished piece during the show. The Tatiara artists have certainly proven that their talents shine bright in this eclectic and well-received exhibition.
